Banding has been shown to be effective in controlling active bleeding, and the device is engineered to provide clear visibility and enhanced band performance in a user-friendly system.
The set includes a multi-band ligator barrel, a speed-band ligator with O-ring, a loading catheter and trigger cord, and pre-loaded bands — available in 4, 6, and 7-band configurations to suit different procedural needs. The device features double-layered, latex-free bands (Model M0052) with a 2.8 mm working channel and a 9.5–15 mm band width range, and is supplied disposable, single-use only.
In clinical use, endoscopic variceal ligation is performed for acute hemostasis of the bleeding varix, with additional bands placed on adjacent, non-bleeding varices in the distal esophagus to prevent variceal rebleeding. A clear band alerts the endoscopist when only one band remains on the device. The enhanced endoscopic view allows for accurate band placement over the bleeding point and supports injection sclerotherapy with the banding device still in place, in the event of refractory bleeding.
